On March 16-17, 2017, a meeting among regional partner universities in the framework of “Advocacy Establishment for Students through Ombudsman Position (AESOP)” Erasmus + project was held at Khazar University. Dr. Hassan Niknafs, rector of the Khazar University welcomed the guests gave the floor to participants. Speeches also were made by Prof. George Gavtadze, rector of Akaki Tsereteli State University, Prof Kakha Shengelia, rector of Caucasus University, Yashar Omarov, Senior Advisor of Ministry of Education of Azerbaijan and Parviz Bagirov, head of National Erasmus + Office in Azerbaijan. They spoke about the importance of the project and wished the success in the future activities of the project. Then, representatives of project partners from Georgia, Ukraine and Azerbaijan gave information on the result of the needs assessment conducted at their universities.
During the meeting, the result of the needs assessment conducted at their universities and issues that will be observed and learned during the meetings at EU partner universities in April-May were discussed and an action plan was prepared.
Prof. George Gavtadze, rector of Akaki Tsereteli State University and Prof Kakha Shengelia, rector of Caucasus University met separately with professor Hassan Niknafs, rector of Khazar university. During the meetings, further development of partnership between universities, including the provision for various exchange programs and joint projects (seminars, conferences, and summer schools) was discussed.
Current issues and next steps with the project were discussed and General management meeting was held. At the end of the event, all regional partners visited the Palace of the Shirvanshahs. The students of Khazar University guided regional partners through the Old City (İçəri Şəhər) and gave detailed information about its history.
